work wear

Garden clothing is a great investment if you do most of the heavy lifting in your own garden. Gardening can be a dirty business, what with kneeling to replant seedlings, working in mulch and hacking through years of accumulated undergrowth. As with any other job that involves Mother Nature, gardening is much easier if you have the proper gear and equipment.

So what does one look for in quality garden clothing?

  • Ensure that fasteners, such as buttons and zippers, are of good quality. Plastic buttons, for instance, are not a great idea, as these break easily when put under pressure.
  • Ensure that the clothing has been double-stitched. This will ensure that it lasts longer without any rips or tears.
  • Choose natural fabrics that allow for proper ventilation. This will ensure that you sweat less while working and keep you cooler. Also, natural fabrics are flexible and much easier to mend in the case of a tear or stitch giveaway.
  • Rather opt for a size larger than you normally are rather than a size smaller if your size is not available. This way you won’t have trouble from constricting garments while you are hard at work in the garden.

We recommend that first time gardeners invest in the following:

  • Overall clothing.
  • Gardening gloves.
  • A pair of safety goggles (if you will be mowing your lawn or using a trimmer).
  • A pair of closed shoes/boots.

A tool belt is also useful if you would like to have all your gardening equipment on hand without having to rifle through the garden shed or tool box.

No matter what your requirements, you can rest assured that the Premier Garden team has gone far and wide to source only the very best in quality work wear.
